How did this Substack begin?

A friend suggested I write about my passion for gardening, growing herbs, and medicinal plants. I’m in the season of trying new things so I said, “why not?”  I’ve always loved writing, but having this Substack community drips joy into my body. Each comment and heart emoji is a connection from my heart to yours. 

If you choose to subscribe, I’d be honored to be your guide. I will invite you to spend more time in nature. Our planet has the power to uplift us mentally, physically, emotionally, or spiritually. The cosmic surprise is this: Mother Earth knows what you need. Just go outside. Climb a mountain. Swim in a clean body of water. Dig a garden. Make snow angels. Gaze up at the night sky. Smell a flower. Trace a bird’s flight pattern. Rub your hand over the electric green moss. Allow the wind to whisper in your ear.  Be still. Or run. It’s your choice.

Once you are fully immersed in nature the chatter of the mind stops. The mirror neurons in your brain mirror the peaceful surroundings. The transformation occurs and peace is felt. Gratitude moves in. Contentment finds a cozy place in your heart. 

My writing might be like the old country road that I live on. A slow pace is required as the road winds around creeks, over bridges, past the cow pastures, traversing the mountain that excels during the autumn, and finally arriving to the long driveway at the end of the *holler. I’m new to this road. I’m new to writing (publicly). I appreciate your support. Your presence has made more of a difference than you know. You each feel like a friendly neighbor waving hello, welcoming me home.

*Holler- a valley between two mountains. It’s Appalachian slang for hollow.
